TOKOLOSHE
South Africa, 2013
"The artist approached the notion of witchcraft in South Africa—observing its role in a society where every unfortunate event is seen as the consequences of a spell. The spectator is invited into the territory where the invisible communicates with the visible world in a mysterious narrative way, mixing fiction and reality.
For this project the artist met different people, all related to the witchcraft matter: The occult crime expert of the south african police, various sangomas (traditional healers), as well as the very popular newspaper, The Daily Sun, which focuses mainly on witchcraft stories."
